Laura held slightly harder than she normally did onto Carmilla; she knew her girlfriend well enough to know she was worried - but that she liked being the strong one and could always keep it together when she was needed. And pain was one of those things that not thinking about could help; she'd not give her girlfriend away even to their friends. And she let Carmilla interrogate her.
"My heart?" Laura frowned. "We know how big my heart is? It was ripped out of my chest, remember." She swallowed. "That was a normal sized heart, wasn't it? I mean I haven't seen many human hearts." Unlike, of course, both Carmilla and LaFontaine.
"And I've more energy than I had yesterday. You've seen! But I thought that was because of ... everything." Laura's gesture lacked her normal levels of manic energy, or even those she'd displayed in the library when she'd given up, but was still expansive. "I mean that sort of thing takes it out of you?"
Suddenly she smiled, her mood almost mercurial. "So you're a cyborg now, LaF? What's that like?"
