Aftermath Part 1 With
lauronica_mars
Centuries of being a vampire on top years of the years trapped in a coffin and left with nothing but her own thoughts, had hardened Camilla. She had perfected the ability to hide her emotions. Well, all but anger when she was pushed to past her quick wit and sarcasm. Yet, none of this had prepared her for the emotional rollercoaster she had been on since meeting Laura. Everything had changed. It wasn’t easy but the more walls she placed up the more Laura found a way to knock them down. It was becoming a habit.
The both of them had been through so much together.
After Laura had been brought back to life, Carmilla suggested heading back to her mother’s old place and resting until they figured out what their next move would be. La Fontaine had also asked for them to at least stay there at least a few days so they could keep a close eye on Laura and check she was okay and hopefully not possessed by an evil spirit or harboring any psycho tendencies.
While Laura slept on the couch in the front room, Carmilla opened the fridge door hoping her blood stash would still be there. She flicked the lights on low and as she poured herself a drink, noticing it was nearly 3am in the morning. No wonder she was wide awake.
“Great.” She muttered to herself and headed back to the front room where she started looking through all the books left behind by her mother. Clearly they were all hers now right? So why not go through them? Sticking the TV on would just wake Laura up anyway.

When Laura came back around Carm didn’t expect the hug. In the back of her mind she had told herself not to get too close in case she hurts Laura again but that went out the window as soon as she felt the arms around her. “Hey” Carmilla smiled, catching her girlfriend and resting her head against hers. She wanted to say more, to try and explain how hard it was to control her strength with the effects of Laura’s blood in her system but as soon as Carm took a deep breath and that familiar scent of Laura filled her lungs she felt she was home.
“Wearing leather pants? Calling me yours? I got to admit Hollis I’m liking the possessive side.” Carm was unable to wipe that dark smirk off her face. “Next time, you can be on top and we’ll use the chains. I got stronger ones from when you made be break the last set.”

Laura's smile was wicked, knowing she'd successfully distracted her girlfriend. "Uh-uh. I'm not you, Carm. And I'm a lot gentler and plan a lot more. Which means I know exactly what I'm going to do with you. And we aren't using chains. We're using threads. If you break them we start all over from the top."

"The only reason you wouldn't let me, Carm, is if you were afraid. Now are you afraid of a simple black cotton thread?" Laura's tone was teasing, further distracting her girlfriend from brooding.

That was her way of saying of course she wasn’t afraid and she knew Laura was stopping her from shutting herself down. She’d become very good at catching Carmilla when she let the darkness creep in. Equally, Carm was just as good at picking Laura up when the occasion called for it. Leaving their fingers linked she started to walk them both back inside and away from the cold.
