Laura reached into her hair and tugged something then frowned. "I should have practiced this." And slid her other hand into her hair, tugging slightly but concealing from Carmilla exactly what she was doing, before taking her left hand and kissing it.

"I could hardly propose without a ring. Drat!" Laura cursed as, unable to see, a small silver ring inscribed with a skull slipped out of her hand and first onto the bed before clattering onto the floor. Blind as she was right now, Laura pouted. "I really should have thought this through a little better? Can you see it?"

It was far from the best or the most expensive silver ring with a skull and two fangs Carmilla would have owned, but Laura had very carefully made it by hand and it was sized perfectly for Carmilla's index finger.
