“Laura...” Carmilla noticed her speech was better and wanted to argue the point about the library liking her more but after a brief trip down memory lane and the amount of books she remembered being thrown at her, it was safe to say Laura was right on that one.
“We don’t know what I’ve done to you and Mother might. She’s old enough that she might know...” Carm had several valid points on why Laura needed to stay here. Each one of them dissolving the second Laura touched her ring. This is why she wanted to be gone before Laura noticed. Camilla knew the closer she got the harder it would be.
“I always keep my promises and I promise I won’t leave you.” Carmilla laced their fingers together, looking at the two rings side by side. “I still need you to choose your ring so I can get my one back.” It was a poor attempt to make Laura smile.
