If anything the needles felt more painful on the way out, then when they had initially pierced her skin. It felt like the area that was infected craved the implants of circuitry yet the fear of what it was doing to her made Mircalla want to run.

She watched Laura’s as if she was a completely different person and felt a shiver when she said ‘unwilling servant’. Mircalla vowed she would never be willing so when the opportunity to run presented itself she took it and bolted down the endless corridor.

Her fingertips pulled at the black circuit board on her chest to tear it off but the pain of trying to remove it caused a cry out loud. It felt like it the needles were still there and pushed through her heart. Impossible to remove.

In desperation and after running as fast as she could Mircalla tried one of the doors to left to find it was locked. Another on the right and the same thing happened. It caused her to panic as each door she tried meant seconds Laura could be catching up with her. She reached up to her neck and found another patch of circuits covering one side and spreading to the back of her neck and above her spine. Again she tried to pull but the machinery had become a permanent fixture to her flesh.

“What are you doing to me?” She spoke out loud but Laura was nowhere to be seen in the corridor of endless doors. Yet Mircalla could hear her laughing in her head as real as if she was standing straight in front of her. “If you want me to run I’m not making this easy cupcake.”

With all of her thought she went to edit an escape behind one of the doors to the left but all ability to change dreams had been taken away. Instead what she got when she opened the door was Laura standing behind it.
