Reflexes were critical and Ella missed catching the bags. Out of pride and of course Ella not liking anyone to see when she was weak, she still tried to catch them but the fight had taken it out of her. In the couple of seconds it took for her to get to her feet she tore open one of the bags and finished it as Lara spoke.
With the second bag finished Ella was starting to look a lot more like herself. “My form?” Ella placed the half finished third bag to one side. “I’m over three hundred years old and people fear my name let alone fighting me. My form is fine.” She wanted to be defensive but the second she turned around she felt Lara’s arms around her she felt her stomach churn.
“I’m not a hero sweetheart.” She took one of Lara’s arms from around her neck to inspect the damage. After a moment her eyes looking up to catch Lara’s. “But that’s twice now I would be willing to die for you.”
Ella sighed when she saw the damage. “I’ll admit pushing you away to stop you getting in trouble was a bad thing to do. You seem to find trouble all on your own.” She brought Lara’s hand up and kissed her fingertips. “Max knew that hurting you would provoke me. Leo is lucky he escaped with his life.”
