Within seconds of hearing Laura cough Carmilla used her supernatural speed to get a glass of water and jump to Laura’s side. She perched on the edge of the couch and put her arm around her, the other holding the glass of water should Laura want it.
“Hey, it’s okay. You’re safe.” Carmilla, using her soothing voice attempted to calm her girlfriend. She could hear Laura’s heart unnaturally pounding so hard in her chest that she let a little frown it concern escape her cold exterior.
“I’ve only heard your heart beat that fast once before. What’s wrong?”
