Laura could have told Carmilla that strength didn't matter as much as she
thought; Laura's sparring partners for Krav Maga had frequently been Kirsch
sized and she knew from experience mass mattered as well as strength and
Carmilla had no more mass than Laura herself. Also that size and strength
both mattered less than technique even if she'd lose to someone with
Kirsch's size and strength and only five years of intensive training nine
times out of ten in sparring. But, keyed up on adrenaline, she saw Mircalla
turn and grab the crop (which wasn't much of a weapon anyway) and dropped
and rolled for distance. At this range of course sweeping the vampire's
feet out from under her as she rolled away was second nature.
"I don't know?" Laura's hands automatically came up in a guard as she faced
Mircalla from the far side of the bed and she forced herself to lower them.
"And not a trick, Mircalla. I don't know how I did that? Or even that I
could do that? And Carm? You remember how I was after those tentacle
monsters from the alchemy club?" Keyed up, but also asking Carmilla to move
slowly if she touched her. "That's how I feel right now."
