Laura's mind was full of jagged edges, still almost raw after overstimulation had shut it down, and Mircalla could see into more fragments than most healthy minds had at once, but knitting itself together even as Mircalla watched. In all those fragments Carmilla was the same. Sexy and dangerous but warm and comforting at the same time.
Mircalla on the other hand was always sexy, but a whole lot less substantial and seemed to shift between multiple forms. Laura was clearly processing her interactions with Mircalla and figuring them out, and Mircalla was changing scene by scene as they replayed themselves; Mircalla and Ell in the office, Carmilla and Mircalla dressed identically and not quite being mirrors, Mircalla tying her to the post and lashing her, Mircalla being thrown around, frozen Carmilla and Mircalla, and Mircalla holding her down on the Sybian and her mind and head literally breaking.
There was something behind Laura throwing Mircalla around - a window full of kids calling her "Psycho Laura" and behind the window Laura throwing around a boy twice her size and breaking the nose of another.
But the Mircallas were shimmering, almost as if they were auditioning for all the parts simultaneously. One was almost identical to Carmilla, but possibly sexier (if that were possible) and with fangs always showing. One had a Star Trek Mirrorverse style goatee. One was a slightly brittle predator who really hated being frozen and was explicitly taking revenge on Laura as she blew her head apart on the Sybian. One was cruel and wanted Laura hurt and to move her hard and fast enough to not enjoy the afterglow.
Clearly Laura was trying to figure Carmilla out, and there were some very very faded Mircallas that clearly hadn't fitted the scenes. As Mircalla watched the Carmilla with a goatee faded to be replaced by a near-identical version.
